INGREDIENTS:-
1kg chicken cut into small pieces.
4 onions (peeled & chopped)
2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tbsp grated coconut
1 tbsp poppy seeds
1 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
3-4 green chillies
1 cup yogurt
½ cup tomato puree
½ cup fresh cream
4 tbsp cooking oil
Salt to taste
Method:-
• Mix the yogurt, garam masala powder,ginger-garlic paste & salt in a bowl.
• Pour the mixture over the chicken pieces and mix well.
• Keep this mixture in refrigerator for about 4hrs.
• Soak poppy seeds & grated coconut in half cup of hot water for 30 min.
• Make a smooth paste of poppy seeds and coconut. Keep aside.
• Heat oil in a pan. Fry the onions tiil golden brown.
• Add tomato puree,red chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt. Fry for 2-3 min.
• Add the chicken pieces into the spices. Saute for 5 min on a medium flame.
• Add water(as per desired curry thickness) and bring to boil covering with a lid.
• Reduce heat. Cook until the chicken is done. Stir ocassionally.
• Remove lid. Add the poppy seeds & coconut paste to the chicken. Add green chillies. Stir for another 1-2 min.
• Shahi Chicken is ready.
• Garninsh with fresh cream before serving.
